Destin Florida is a scenic city on Florida’s Emerald coast, known for its remarkably white beaches and emerald-colored waters. It is named after one of its early settlers, Captain Destin, who settled in the city around the mid 19th century to practice fishing. Destin is also home to the Big Kahuna’s Water Park, a scenic adventure park which draws many repeat visitors. And for visitors who love shopping, Destin is home to the Silver Sands Outlet Mall, reputedly America’s largest designer outlet. Then there is Destin Commons, the city’s open-air mall, host to a variety of shops, complete with a multi-screen cinema.
For event-tourists, October is a good month to pay Destin a visit. October is the month the city hosts its famous Fishing Rodeo, which draws numerous anglers. October is also the month Destin hosts the Destin Seafood Festival.
Getting to Destin, Florida should be easy. The city is served by a number of airports, including the Okaloosa Regional Airport, the Panama City Bay County International airport, Pensacola Regional Airport and the city’s own Destin airport, with flights operated by all major US and some international carriers. The city is also accessible by road through HWY 98 as well as by Rail up to Crestview Florida, about only 50 kilometers away.
Destin’s visitors have a host of hotels and motels for every budget and taste to choose from. There are also the city’s famous condominiums at the visitor’s disposal as well as a number of private homes available for hire to holiday makers.
